My late grandfather, Roy Quintrell, was a well-known property developer in the beautiful mountains of Blue Ridge, Ga. He attracted customers seeking the "mountain dream home" from all over the country. Papaw Roy developed approximately fourteen developments in the Blue Ridge area that consisted of around four-hundred and fifty cabins. In 1986, construction began on the "Mountain Tops" gated community, which quickly became his most popular venture. In the final stages of residential construction, theft of building materials became an issue throughout the community. With much thought and consideration, a decision was made to integrate video surveillance into the equation. With the help of my uncle, Bill Quintrell, a highly educated computer programmer, Papaw came across Supercircuits, a video surveillance wholesaler out of Austin, Texas. A top-of-the-line system was purchased from Supercircuits but didn't get implemented due to my grandfather's passing in 2011.

While cleaning out his barn, I discovered the system still in the box and took it home to make good use of it; this was my first experience with security cameras, and I truly enjoyed installing the system in my home with the help of my father, Jim Quintrell. In a conversation with Donna Whitener, owner of Town and Country Furniture and Mayor, I mentioned my home installation. To my surprise, she lit up and asked if I could install a system in one of her storage buildings. I said yes, and the system is still in use today. Shortly after the first install, I returned to her business to install security cameras in her entire 47,250 square foot furniture store, and the rest is history. I then became a dealer with Supercircuits, now known as Alibi Security, and the business began to grow at a high rate of speed.
